KARACHI: Superintendent CIU Dost Muhammad has sought protection for him and his family after receiving threats of dire consequences from a lawyer and Assistant Collector Customs, Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ).
Dost Muhammad in an alleged multi billion rupee custom fraud lodged a complaint against Assistant Commissioner Ali Ijaz and lawyer Zain A Jatoi for extending threats to him after complainant/ respondent Dost Muhammad filed a report of Joint Examination Team (JET) including senior custom officials from different formation at Karachi.
The complainant maintains that he has unearthed a scam of causing loss of revenue to the tune of billions of rupees by importer of steel products including petitioner company M/s Steel Vision.
The complainant maintained that the JET report held the importers responsible of scamming the government and as the report was submitted the AC Customs and Advocate Zain A Jatoi allegedly threatened him.
The complainant prayed to the court to direct the departmental authorities to provide protection to him and his family.
Meanwhile Director I&I Irfan Javed is on a fortnight leave and any action to provide protection to the officer under threat can be decided.
