SHC allows petition by Trade Linkers

KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Mahmood A Khan allowed a petition filed by Messer Trade Linkers who imported a consignment of refrigerators.

The dispute was over valuation of the goods as the petitioner was seeking clearance under section 25 of the Customs Act 1969 while the department was determining value on the basis of Valuation Ruling which was on higher side.

The bench after hearing the sides ordered the release of consignment subject to deposition of differential amount with the Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Collectorate in the form of bank guarantee or pay order.
