MCC Faisalabad recovers smuggled cloth worth Rs51.4 million

FAISALABAD: The Investigation & Prosecution of MCC Faisalabad has recovered large quantity of foreign origin smuggled cloth and booked two persons including Mumtaz Khan and Abdul Maalik.

Information was passed through Collector MCC Faisalabad Mubashir Baig that huge quantity of smuggled goods were lying in Nurj Al Haram Plaza outside Karkhana Bazar Faisalabad.

A team led by Assistant Collector MCC Faisalabad Ahmed Zuhair raided the warehouses and recovered 45.27 tons of non-duty paid foreign origin cloth worth Rs51.4 million.

The raiding team comprised of Superintendent Ch Irfan Mumtaz, Inspectors Khalid Anwar, Muhammad Dogar, Mujahid Abbas and others.

Due to non-production of documents showing proof of legal import and lawful possession and upon sufficient reasons to believe that the goods in are smuggled, the same were seized. An FIR has been lodged and investigations are underway.
