KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has seized 6,300 liters of smuggled Irani diesel at Northern Bypass near Mai Garhi, as the authorities are keeping strict check on the transportation of smuggled goods. [the_ad id=”31605″]Information was passed through Director IRfan Jawaid and Additional Director Ali Zaman Gardezi that non-duty-paid Iran origin diesel would be transported from Baluchistan for its further disposal and illegal sale in Karachi.

In pursuance of the said information Deputy Director Saad Ata Rabbani formed a team comprising Principal Appraiser Syed Irshad Ali Shah, IO Humair uddin and others to foil the attempt of transportation and further disposal of the said smuggled commodity.

The Customs staff along with Manopir Police intercepted a Bed Ford truck at Northern Bypass. Upon checking the tanker was found loaded with high speed diesel.

The driver identified as Abdul Hameed failed to provide any documentary evidence proving legal import/ownership of the goods. The oil along with the vehicle has been seized and investigations are underway. The total value of the seizure comes to Rs2.3 million.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs Intelligence Karachi led by PA Syed Irshad Shah has been quite efficient against smuggling and made several cases in a short period of time.
