PSM warns of imposition of cost if appeal turns to be wastage of court’s time

KARACHI: The appellant Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) was warned by a full bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan in a service appeal filed against Ms Shaista Ahmed and other lady teachers/lecturers of schools and colleges managed by the Pakistan Steel Mills.

Steel Mills is close, what can we do. A large number of employees are getting salary without any work, the bench observed at the outset of hearing of the case.

Are you all lecturers, the bench asked. Yes Sir we are teaching since 1993, the respondents replied. The steel mill is in-operative and plant is closed but our institutions are earning money, they added.

The bench asked the counsel for appellant Chairman PSM that when the services of the respondents have been regularized what is the purpose of the petition. Better withdraw it or we will be constrained to imposed cost upon you, the bench said.

The bench later put of hearing seeking some documents from appellant side.
