KARACHI: MCC Quetta has foiled a bid to transport smuggled goods to Karachi in a passenger bus and seized smuggled goods worth Rs18.4 million.[the_ad id=”32940″]

In pursuance of authentic information received from Collector MCC Quetta, a passenger bus coming from Quetta side in-route to Karachi was stopped by the staff of Customs Check Post Lakpass, apparently no huge quantity of goods were seen except Tyres, Toffees, Chinese Salt and Cloth from inside back of the Bus.

However, the Bus was brought into the warehouse premises of Lakpass for further detailed inspection, where, on thorough search the Customs Staff recovered Gutka and Betel nuts from the specially designed cavities made beneath the floor, and roof of the Bus.

However, during recovery procedure the Driver of the Bus managed to escape from the scene, since no one came forward to claim the owner ship nor produced and legal documents, therefore, the staff of Customs took the possession of the above mentioned foreign origin goods along with the Passenger Bus and seized the same. A case is lodged and investigations are underway.

Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos, Superintendent Saleem Khan Mandokhel, Inspectors Mohammad Tanveer and Shabbir Khan took part in the operation while Additional Collector Jameel Baloch supervised the operation.
