KARACHI: MCC Appraisement East has foiled a bid to smuggle foreign liquor, beer and betel nut imported in the garb of car seats and arrested one accused namely Shahrukh.
According to details, Appraising Officer Qasim Rabbani suspected a consignment imported by M/s MAK Tanoli International from Thailand, which was grounded at SAPT, Karachi. The consignment was declared to be comprising of car seats.[the_ad id=”31605″]Rabbani informed Deputy Collector Faizan Badar about his suspicion, who forwarded the information to Additional Collector Shafiqur Rehman. Subsequently, a team of R&D East comprising Deputy Collector Rana Arslan, Principal Appraiser Abdul Qayyum, SPO Malak Hashim, AO Shahid Hasan, examined the container and recovered large quantity of liquor, beer and betel nut concealed in the car seats.
Importer Shahrukh has been arrested and investigations are underway.
