KARACHI: The newly formed Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad is continuing the anti-smuggling campaign and made 60 cases seizing goods worth Rs147.9 million in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
Moreover, the Directorate recovered a sum of Rs8.9 million, which were deposited in the government kitty, while an amount of Rs13.3 million was realized through the auction of confiscated goods.
Director Hyderabad Dr. Sadiqullah Khan said the directorate despite resource constraints was striving to curb smuggling. Moreover, Additional Director Syed Naeem Akhtar, as per the directives of Director SAdiqullah, formed an Special Investigation Unit (SIU) headed by Deputy Director Shah Faisal Sahu. The SIU is efficiently operating against smuggling in coordination with law enforcement and other intelligence agencies.
Director Sadiqullah said activities against the smuggling would be further accelerated while information regarding money laundering and drug mafia was also being compiled, which would be followed by appropriate action.
