KARACHI: Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi has planned a big operation against milk-enhancement hormonal injections and dumping places of these injections have been identified, which would be raided.

Director Irfan Javed has formed a team headed by Superintendent Ismail Shah to recover the banned injections.[the_ad id=”31605″]It may be mentioned here that Customs authorities have seized huge quantity of Boostin injections and the investigations identified the dumping places and the points of sale of these goods. Raids would be conducted to recover the same.

Collector JIAP Feeroze Alam Junejo has formed a team headed by Deputy Collector Wasif Malik to investigate the import and clearance of the banned goods. To recall, a few days earlier, Customs Intelligence arrested a person and recovered significant quantity of Boostin injections, which had been cleared without checking and examination. Feeroze Alam Junejo has also suspended the official responsible for the negligence.

It may be mentioned here that certain baggage was cleared without scanning and checking if protocol were assigned to these passengers and their baggage. This practice was misused to smuggle contraband and prohibited goods.

However, Collector Feeroze Alam Junejo informed, the practice had ended for some time and all the baggage was scanned. He said that protocol only expedited the process.

Junejo informed that Protocol Officer at JIAP Jamal Zia had extended assistance to Deputy Collector Wasif Malik in foiling various attempts of clearing/smuggling goods. In the last two months Jamal Zia assisted Wasif Malik in seizing huge quantity of Boostin injections. Jamal Zia is posted at Jinnah International Airport for the last over 20 years.

Deputy collector Wasif Malik has been quite efficient against smuggling and made several cases, even he assisted Customs Lahore in foiling bid to smuggle prohibited goods.

Government has banned use of hormonal injections and since then the smuggling of Boostin and Somatec injections has increased. Despite the ban, these hormonal injections are widely being used by the dairy farmers across the country.
