SHC dismiss petition in vehicle detention case

KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC), comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Arshad Hussain on Monday dismissed a constitution petition filed by one Abid Ashraf, seeking release of a Toyota Hilux vehicle.

Khalid Rajpar advocate appearing for the Pakistan Customs, DIT submitted that custom officials have impounded three vehicles bearing same registration number, chassis number etc . The investigations are underway and during perusal of record it was also found that one of the three vehicles have been released on the order of this court. The models of all the three vehicles differed being of model 1992, 1996 and 2004.

The counsel for department also submitted that petitioner as well as counsel are not attending the court on date of hearing.

The bench later dismissed the petition allowing the customs to proceed as per law.
