NEW DELHI: The Rs500 million Armouring Unit being setup at IMT, Rohtak by Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a government of India enterprise, will be operational by December 2019, a statement issued by the company said.[the_ad id=”31605″]MIDHANI has over 30 years experience in providing armour solutions for Defence applications. Deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in counter insurgencies environment necessitated design and development of Light Weight Personal/Group protection BP products as well as armoured vehicles such as Light Bullet Proof Vehicles (LBPV5) and Medium Bullet Proof Vehicles (MBPV5) for troops movement.

Limited availability of Light Weight armoured material and indigenous BR Steel put a major constrain to provide reliable solutions. MIDHANI took this as a challenge and developed Light Weight solutions comprising of composites and varieties of BP Steel. Today MIDHANI can provide wide range of light weight BP products to CAPFs for encountering all operational contingencies.

Non-availability of suitable LBPVs and MBPVs was creating major operational challenges for CAPFs, which MIDHANI has now addressed by its state of the art up armouring solutions.

During an event held at MIDHANI Plant at Hyderabad on 30 Mar 2019, fifteen BP vehicles were handed over to CAPF after rugged terrain mobility and ballistic testing.

Speaking on the occasion, CAPF officer Shri JK Sharam, Deputy Commandant praised MIDHANI’s contribution with pride, particularly in reliable and cost effective Armouring Solutions for CAPFs. Dwelling upon the changing security environment and technological needs, he expressed his full confidence in MIDHANI’s potential to meet all challenges and provide best solutions as per CAPFs requirements.
