Lawyers strike effects court work

KARACHI: Another strike on call by Pakistan Bar Council on Thursday lead to adjournment of hundreds of cases at High Court of Sindh and subordinate judiciary.

The representative bodies of lawyers are protesting against amendments in section 22-A and 22-B which they said curtailed the power of judiciary as now Senior Superintendent of Police was empowered to decide lodging of FIR if his subordinates fails to do so.

Earlier, district and sessions courts were deciding the applications/petitions under the above mentioned section.

The city court complex, District Malir courts and SHC wore a deserted look as lawyers stayed away from court proceedings today.[the_ad id=”31605″]
