KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reportedly postponed the transfer and posting of BS-19 officers of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS), for a short period of time, as there is a spat between Member Customs (Policy) and Member Customs (Operations). Earlier, there were just one Member Customs on Federal Board of Revenue, after two Members Customs i.e Policy and Operations were appointed on the Board, there is some conflict of interest, as the FBR has not defined the exact jurisdictions. Member Customs (Policy) Jawed Ghani is of the view that Collectors/Directors (BS-20) officers of PCS have already been reshuffled, and it would not be prudent to transfer Additional Collectors/Directors (BS-19) ahead of federal budget. It may be mentioned here that budget preparations are underway and FBR has invited budget proposals from all quarters. However, sources said Member Customs Policy Jawed Ghani is not pleased as he was not consulted for the transfers and postings of BS-20 officers, and the lists regarding reshuffling of BS-19 officers were also finalized without his input. An official said the transfer and posting was the jurisdiction of Member Customs Operations Owais Agha Jawad. Member Customs Operations Owais Agha Jawad believes in reshuffling the officers regularly, which increases the efficiency level of officers as well as discourages corruption. Sources said officers, holding their offices for over two years, will be moved. Customnews.pk learnt that reshuffling of BS-19 officers of Pakistan Customs Service will be notified in a week or so.
