SHC stays auction of imported vehicles

KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi on Wednesday stayed the auction of two vehicles.

The bench heard a petition filed by Khuda-e-Dost represented by Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate. The petitioner imported mini Pajero of model 2015 and filed the Goods Declaration.

The release was denied by the Collector Customs, Appraisement, East on ground that older model import was banned under the relevant laws.

The bench also heard an identical petition filed by one Rehmat who imported Daihatsu Mira. However instead of release, this vehicle was also offered for sale in an open auction.

Today the bench was told that vehicles were detained illegally and put to auction as some custom officials are interested in these vehicles.

The bench after hearing the counsel for petitioners restrained the respondent custom officers from auctioning the said vehicles while adjourning further proceedings to a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.[the_ad id=”32940″]
