KARACHI: The Finance Supplementary 2nd Amendment Bill presented by Finance Minister Asad Umar on Wednesday has proposed to relax the ban on non-filers, who would now be able to buy cars up to 1300cc cars.
Non-filers are people who do not file their tax returns with the Federal Board of Revenue. They include both people who pay tax on their income and those who evade it.
former government of the PML-N had imposed a ban on non-filers, preventing them from buying new vehicles. Similarly, non-filers were also banned from purchasing property valued at more than Rs4 million. The purpose of the ban was to bring these people into the tax net.
However, the Supplementary Bill has proposed to allow the non-filers buying cars of up to 1300cc.
Asad Umar has also announced to increase taxes on vehicles of more than 1800cc. [the_ad id=”31605″]
