LAHORE: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence Lahore has seized sizeable quantity of narcotics, which was being transported to Lahore from Peshawar.

Information was passed from Director Rabab Sikandar to Deputy Director Usman Tariq regarding movement of contraband goods. Subsequently, a car bearing registration number MNA-07-5391 on motorway was intercepted. On examination, 8.5 kg of prime quality Charas and 1.3 kg opium was recovered. Narcotics were found in the cavity created in the fuel tank of the vehicle.

A person namely Abdul Sattar transporting narcotics has been arrested. On initial investigation, it transpired that charas was being smuggled from Peshawar to Lahore. Market value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs15 million. FIR has been registered against prime accused Gul Khan. Further investigations in the case are underway.
