KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the respondent custom officials for Jan 15 in a petition filed by Rising Sun Construction Company.

The petitioner challenged detention of 10 prime movers on ground that these were of old models and thus fell in prohibition clause.

The counsel for petitioner earlier submitted that importer fulfilled all the three conditions set out import policy. The company is engaged in construction activities, Euro II compliant and pre-shipment inspection (PSI) also certifies the model of the imported vehicles, the counsel contended.

The bench after hearing both the sides adjourned further hearing till Jan 15 when the respondents were asked to defend their action of detention.
