SHC orders release of mobile phones under “Amnesty” scheme

KARACHI : An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan hearing a constitution petition filed by Digicom company ordered release of the mobile phones available in the country at zero fine and penalty.

The bench earlier heard the counsel for petitioner company and ordered that as per two valuation rulings all models of all companies are liable to be released on payment of duty and taxes.

The bench also ordered that compliance report be submitted within 2 weeks. As a result of order petitioners will get his 27000 units lying with Preventive Collectorate, 10000 with Preventive, West and 2810 with Hyderabad Collectorate.

The same bench hearing another petition by Digicom seeking refund of the fine and penalty allowing the same said either the amount be returned or adjusted in future consignment. The petitioner will get rupees 2 million deposited as fine and rupees 84 million in penalty.
