KARACHI: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan is focused on enhancing bilateral trade between China and Pakistan and create a meaningful interaction between both countries to overcome cultural barriers for a more productive economic cooperation. Mian Riaz Ahmad, Director General Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) stated this while talking to a five membered delegation of Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce Halal Food Professional Committee and Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.
The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Zhi Jun Ma, Chairman Halal Food Committee.

He apprised the DG that the Sichuan provincial government was working to create a Pak Chengdu Display Centre in Sichuan province to display products of Pakistan origin in China so that 5 provinces of Western China can gain knowledge about Pakistani exportables , culture and mutual cooperation in sectors like leather, IT, surgical goods, handicrafts, furniture, tourism etc can be achieved.

Mr. Zhi also added that this project will be the first step towards the economic cooperation, encompassing CPEC as well as shifting of the manufacturing base of machinery and information technology to Pakistan. Mr. Salahuddin Hanif ,Secretary General, Pak- China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry added that modalities for facilitating Pakistani businessman in Western China may be taken up by Mr. Zhi Jun Ma with their local authorities, for a smooth operation of the Pak Chengdu Display Centre project and to ensure a long term business relationship with their chinese counterparts.

Mian Riaz Ahmad, DG TDAP Lahore further said that under Emerging Pakistan initiative as envisaged by Mr. Younus Dagha, Secretary Commerce, such a venture would be a very positive step to promote Pakistani products in Chinese markets.

He emphasized that China and Pakistan are long-standing strategic partners and such initiatives will further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting ended with a note of thanks and guaranteed support for mutual economic benefit of both countries.
