PESHAWAR: Customs Intelligence Peshawar has foiled an attempt to smuggle DAP fertilizer to Afghanistan in the garb of white flour.

The Director, Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar received credible information that Di-Ammunium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer would be smuggled to Afghanistan in the garb of export of wheat flour.

In pursuance of the said infomuttion, staff of Directorate held a secret naka near Badaber Kohat Road, Peshawar.

The suspected trailer was identified and signaled to stop which was apparently loaded with wheat flour bags rnarked “for export only”.

On the spot checking confirmed the presence of DAP. The trailer was, therefore, brought to the office of Director Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar for thorough examination which resulted in the recovery of 1013 bags of DAP each of 50 Kgs, total 50650 Kgs and 365 bags of wheat flour.

Export of DAP Fertilizer is banned vide the Export Policy Order, 2016. The occupant / driver of the trailer namely Saleem S/O Barat Gul was arrested on the spot.

The estimated value of the aforementioned seized goods and trailer is around Rs18.7 million (Goods; Rs5.7 million and Trailer; Rs.I3 Million).

FIR has been lodged and further investigation is underway.
