KARACHI: Wi-tribe, home broadband internet provider, has acquired the rival Qubee, which would provide an advantage to Wi-tribe in expanding its footprints in Pakistan. The financial details of the deal could not be known.

An official at Wi-tribe said that Wi-tribe had acquired Qubee Internet and Qubee’s users are now being switched to the Wi-tribe network.

The official informed that towers of Qubee were being removed and replaced with Wi-tribe’s. The internet devices, which the Qubee subscribers were using will not be replaced instead, these devices would be installed with Wi-tribe’s SIM and software.

Although Qubee did not have a large subscriber base, however its acquisition by the competitor itself would give Wi-tribe an advantage, who is now directly competing with mobile phone companies.

Sky telecom; one of the major entities under the umbrella of HB group, is delivering telecommunication and information technology services since 1996 in AJK Pakistan.
