KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation has received a complaint that the auction of vehicles conducted at Directorate of Hyderabad was fraudulent .

Staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Hyderabad conducted the auction on November 08, 2018 in which they announced on auction day that certain vehicles including a Toyota Land cruiser Prado was under stay and also rejected several bids on the spot.

“They have not shown any specific stay order and even misbehaved with bidders, who came to take participation from other cities even,” a Superintendent at Customs Intelligence Karachi noted in the complaint.

Moreover, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Hyderabad conducted the auction again secretly on November 15, 2018, which was not even published in any newspaper, neither circulated nor uploaded on FBR’s website. Vehicles were purchased at throw away prices, which is evident from the record.

The complainant submitted Assistant Director Shah Faisal, Superintendent Tariq Rafiq and Intelligence Officer Shafiq Ali were involved in this fraudulent auction.

The complaint urged the Director General Customs Intelligence to take action against the culprits, cancel the auction and save the government revenue as the accused had approved the fraudulent bids and ready to make delivery of the vehicles.
