KARACHI: MCC Appraisement East has booked an importer and clearing agent for evasion of duties and taxes on import of high-end branded perfumes through mis-declaration of description, quantity, brands and value in the garb of low priced toiletries. Collector Saeed Akram had formed a team comprising Deputy collector Talha Salman, Principal Appraiser Dost Muhammad, Appraising Officers Muhammad Jawaid, Muhammad Aamir, Muhammad Bilal, Senior Preventive Officer Malak Hashim and Adil Rasheed and others to check revenue evasion through mis-declaration. The said company imported a consignment from Jebel All and sough clearance declaring description of the goods as deodorant body spray, liquid cleaner, air freshener at declared and self assessed total value of $5,974. On receipt of a credible information in R&D (Intelligence Unit of the Collectorate), the consignment was selected for joint examination.
