KARACHI: Directorate of IPR Enforcement South has seized a large number of counterfeit watches after MCC Port Qasim detected that the infringing goods imported by M/s FAS Enterprises were counterfeits.

One customs agents Waseem Tanoli in connivance with two examining officers of MCC Port Qasim namely Malik Mohammad Sabir and Irshad Shahb attempted to get the counterfeits watches cleared. Sources said that the customs agent was advised by the accused examining officers not to declare the printed-brands of the imported watches.
Moreover, the examining officers did not physically examined the consignment and submitted the report as per the declarations made by the importer’s agent Waseem Tanoli.
However, Additional Collector MCC Port Qasim Yaseen Murtaza had the information about the attempted fraud, and formed a team supervised by Deputy Collector Mohammad Yawar and comprising Principal Appraiser Sultan Aureungzeb, Appraising Officers Anwar Zeb and Nafees Qureshi to look into the matter.
The team suspected the goods to be counterfeit and informed the Directorate of IPR Enforcement for further proceedings. Directorate of IPR Enforcement sent the images of the watches to the right holder organizations for confirmation. These organizations confirmed the goods to be replicas.
The Directorate has seized the goods and forwarded a seizure report for adjudication.
The seized watches are the replicas of famous brands including Audemars Piguet, Breitling, Cartier, Casio, Chanel, Citizen, CK, Dior, Gucci, Hublot, Jaeger Lecoultre, Longines, Mont Blanc and Movado.
