KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan on Tuesday allowed provisional release of a consignment of soap and cosmetics.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Messers HANSEKA represented by Franklin Law Associoates. The counsel for the law firm appearing for the petitioner company submitted that court has already declared the circular passed by custom officers over riding section 25-D of the Customs Act 1969. He submitted that benefit of section 81 is the right of an importer. He relied on Danish Jehangiri case and prayed to the court to allow provisional release of the consignment.

The bench allowing the request ordered release of the consignment provisionally subject to payment of duty, taxes etc while deferring further proceedings for two weeks.
