KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan on Wednesday issued notices to the respondent company, a service provider.

Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) through its legal representative Franklin law Associates moved the court challenging an order of special income tax appellate tribunal in favour of the respondent IGI company.

Filing the Special Tax Reference Application, the SRB maintained that as per amendment in tax laws, the company provides advisory service in relation to Pakistan Stock Exchange therefore it is liable to pay tax.

The department has raised a demand of rupees 600,000 for the tax year 2013-14 which is the basis of controversy.

The bench today after hearing the counsel for applicant department ordered its office to fix thecase for hearing two weeks later.
