KARACHI: The hearing of a number of petitions filed by importers of tiles were adjourned for a final decision on April 05 by a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Agha Faisal.

The petitioners were seeking exemption from custom duty, taxes etc under SRO 497 of 2009 amended in 2017 and maintains that government can impose duty and taxes upto 37.5 per cent but custom officials are imposing duty and taxes between 50 per cent to 100 per cent.

The bench today could not proceed with the case due to paucity of time and fixed April 5 for a final hearing.
