KARACHI: MCC Quetta has seized 15,000 liters of smuggled Irani diesel at Lakpas Customs check post. Smugglers had tampered the seals of the tanker for filing the smuggled diesel and attempted to use transshipment advice issued by M/s Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for transporting premium motor gasoline to cover their illegal activities.

Information was passed on to Additional collector Zubair Shah and Deputy Colelctor Preventive through Collector Ashraf Ali that attempt would be made to smuggle foreign origin diesel in the garb of documents issued by M/s PSO for transporting of premium motor gasoline.

It was known that the culprits loaded the gasoline from shipping point and sold the same to fuel stations in Karachi. Then they loaded the tanker with smuggled Irani diesel from someplace in Khuzdar area to transport the commodity to the city.

However, Customs Preventive Quetta spotted the vehicle at Lakpas and stopped it. The driver of the vehicle presented transshipment advice issued by M/s PSO, according to which 15000 liters of motor gasoline were loaded in the tanker.

Examination found seals on the opening chamber on the roof of the tanker suspicious. Futrher probe found the tanker was loaded with smuggled diesel instead of premium motor gasoline. The goods have been seized and investigations are underway.

Deputy Collector Maqbool Baloch and other staff including Maqsood Durrani, Mir Qalam, Ghulam Hussain Khoso and Asghar Kakar participated in the operation.
