KARACHI: A special customs appellate tribunal comprising Ghulam Mustafa Memon, Member Judicial and Tanveer Ahmed, Member Technical on Tuesday deferred hearing of an appeal filed by telecom giant Telenor till Feb 6 affording last chance to the Pakistan Customs.

The appellant represented by Franklin Law Associates, assailed the notice of recovery maintaining that a committee formed by the department it self which while hearing a plea by another telecom giant Mobilink held that PCT heading mentioned by Telenor are enforceable and none else.

The tribunal asked the departments council to either solve the controversy or it would decide the case and would set aside the Order in Original. The case pertains to levy of custom’s duty and taxes in respect of batteries imported for networking of the appellant/petitioner cellular companies.
