KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan ordered release of a consignment of tile in line with an order passed by another division bench. The said bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial as an interim arrangement ordered provisional release of the imported consignments on condition that importer/petitioner would pay 50 per cent of Regulatory Duty and other taxes with the department and 50 per cent with the Nazir of SHC. The bench today after hearing Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate ruled in favor of the petitioner F.G.Trading Company. The same bench put of hearing of a petition filed by one Haji Fazal who challenged the confiscation of 375 cartons of cigarettes. Today Deputy Collector Hyderabad was present in person and explained position about actual number of cigarette cartons. The bench asked that why order of the subordinate appellate authority was not being implemented. Kashif Nazeer advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs told the bench that a STRA has been filed by the petitioner against order of the competent authority.
