KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has launched a crack down against smuggled vehicles in October 2017 and seized 35 vehicles worth over Rs53 million.
Director I&I Quetta Irfan Javaid, Deputy Director Moeed Kanji, superintendent Mohd Fareed, Intelligence Officers Shabir and Bashir have done a great job and seized vehicles which were used in transporting smuggled goods as well as non duty paid vehicles.
The seized vehicles include Mercedes, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Vitz, Hino Trucks etc. Furthermore, a number of other goods including cigarette, blankets, tyres and tubes, gutka and other miscellaneous goods were also seized during the ongoing campaign against smuggling.
The value of goods seized during October has reached Rs 73 million.
Director Irfan Javaid is committed to root out smuggling particularly smuggled vehicles. It may be mentioned here that smuggled vehicles are also used in terrorist activities.
Smuggling inflicts a collateral loss on the country’s economy as it deprives the local industry of the level playing field while money made through this dirty business funds terrorists and anti social elements.
