KARACHI: The recently held election of Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) is at the center of controversy, as a re-counting of votes has been scheduled for September 20, 2017.

Customs Agents Alliance (CAA) candidate for the office of president Faisal Mushtaq has approached Chief Election commissioner for the recounting of votes.

Faisal Mushtaq lost the election by just one vote as he secured 488 votes as compared with 489 votes of Yahya Mohammad of Customs Agents Group.

Chief Election Commissioner Asif Mehmood has scheduled the recounting of votes on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 3.00PM.

Candidates of both the panels have been issued notices regarding recounting of votes.

It may be mentioned here that the oath taking ceremony would be held on September 28, 2017.

It was known that Customs Agents Group is not convinced with the recounting of the votes, instead they would try re-election.

All Pakistan Customs Agents Association Ex Vice Chairman Habibuddin said KCAA election was a close competition and the victory of Customs Agents Group on certain seats was because of the influence of Arshad Jamal.
