KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and  Justice Omar Sial on Tuesday heard about a dozen of petitions involving identical issue that whether a license from Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) is mandatory for import of food supplements and other herbal products for maintenance of body matabolsim. The petitioner seek release of consignments detained by Pakistan Customs on ground that import of the items in dispute are importable under license from DRAP.

Faisal Agha advocate and others argued for Shama Communication, Pakistan Tibbi Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers, Pakistan Chemist & Durggist Association, Mple Pharma and ten other pharmaceutical companies/importers after which further hearing was put of till Wednesday (today) when Deputy Attorney General Salman Talibuddin would rebut the arguments by the petitioner side.

SHC in a number of cases  has ordered  release of the consignments as per rule of consistency.
