KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Monday ordered custom officials to extend the benefit of section 81 of Custom Act 1969 to the importers of the LED lights.

The bench was hearing six identical petitions including one by Bhutta International.

Adnan Motan advocate for the petitioners at the outset of the proceedings in these petitions drew attention of the court to order passed a week back in a number of identical petitions in which provisional release was ordered. He sought the same relief.

The bench inquired from Principal Appraiser, Law, Pakistan Customs,  Ilyas Ahsan  that whether these petitions are also identical to the ones decided earlier. Upon confirmation the bench allowed the request but ordered that the benefit of the previous order would apply to only those consignments which were shipped on or before July 31, 2017.
