KARACHI: MCC Peshawar has received a letter requesting strict legal action against Chief Collector Appraisement South Abdul Rasheed Shaikh and his brother Mansoor Shaikh of M/s e-Movers Pvt Ltd as both of these persons are allegedly involved in inflicting losses on national exchequer.
The said letter received by collector Peshawar bears the name of another bonded carrier M/s Ports Connections Pvt Ltd. However, when contacted Malik Asad of M/s Ports Connection told Customnews.pk that they had nothing to do any such letter and they did not dispatch any communication to MCC Peshawar against any Customs officer.
Sources in Pakistan Customs informed Customnews.pk that all the allegations in the letter were true and it was an open secret that Abdul Rasheed Shaikh was patronizing his brother Mansoor Shaikh and these brothers were involved in tax/duty evasion and other serious crimes.
The said letter, which levels serious against Chief Collector Appraisement South Abdul Rasheed Shaikh and his brother Mansoor Shaikh of M/s E-Movers Pvt Ltd is being considered for a due process i.e. investigations into these allegations.
It is alleged that Chief Collector Abdul Rasheed Shaikh got a Customs bonded carrier license for his brother Mansoor Shaikh’s company M/s E-Movers in violation of rules and laws.
The letter points out the already established fact that M/s E-Movers Pvt Ltd is involved in replacement of high tariff and high value goods with low value and low tariff goods during transit of transshipment cargo. Through the replacement of transshipment cargo during transit M/s E-Movers inflicted huge loss to the national exchequer as well as the national economy.
The letter alleges that since M/s E-Movers is owned by the brother of a Chief Collector, therefore no officer of Customs Intelligence or Customs Appraisement dared taking any action against the accused culprit.
M/S e-Movers had been running this dirty business for the last five years. However, in 2016 FBR authorities took notice of the reports and M/s E-Movers was caught red-handed and an FIR was lodged against them.
However, Abdul Rasheed Shaikh’s influence rescued his brother and no action was taken against Mansoor Shaikh of M/s E-Movers. In several other cases, no FIR was lodged or even the contravention report was not even served against M/s E-Movers despite the fact a huge loss was inflicted to the national exchequer.
Subsequently, MCC Peshawar wrote a letter to Customs Karachi that bonded carrier letter of M/s E-Movers be suspended as the company was involved in serious crimes, but Abdul Rasheed Shaikh stopped the concerned officials from taking any action against M/s E-Movers.
Chief Collector Abdul Rasheed Shaikh also influences investigations against the clients of M/s E-Movers Pvt Ltd in the name of trade facilitations and unscrupulous elements are escaping all justice.
The said letter has requested impartial and proper investigations into the affairs of Chief Collector Appraisement South Abdul Rasheed Shaikh and M/s E-Movers Pvt Ltd, which are plaguing the country’s most sensitive institutions i.e. Customs and causing huge loss to the national economy.
