KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed  allowed a request by counsel for Pakistan Customs and put off hearing of a Special Customs Reference Application (SCRA 497/2016) for two weeks.

The Collectorate of Customs filed the SCRA against RAK Trading Company, importers of tiles from China etc. The law point involved in the SCRA is that whether the respondent/importer is  not laible to pay duties, taxes as per correct and lawful assessment made in terms of Valuation Ruling determined under section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969.

As the SCRA was taken up, the counsel for applicant sought time. The bench allowed the same observing that it was a last chance for the applicant side.
