KARACHI: MCC Gwadar has seized a large cache of hashish/charas worth Rs5.2 million and arrested two accused.

On receipt of credible information relayed to the Collector MCC Gwadar Feroze Alam Junejo regarding an attempt by nefarious elements to smuggle a huge cache of narcotics from Afghanistan through Quetta to Karachi and then abroad.

Vigilance of the RCD highway was stepped up to nip the attempt. Collector constituted a special team under supervision of Additional collector Junaid Memon and Assistant Collector (Preventive) Kaleemullah with the strict directives to make all out efforts to ensure that the consignment is intercepted and persons involved are apprehended expeditiously.

The team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Saleem Khokhar and Inspector Abdul Malik and others.  The team kept strict vigilance and upon checking recovered 66 kg hashish/charas from the hidden cavities of a vehicle No. TKZ-718.

The narcotics worth Rs5.2 million and vehicle worth Rs3.0 million was seized and two accused namely Saifullah s/o Khuda Dost and Abdul Kabir s/o Malik Abdul Rauf have been arrested and FIR has been lodged.

In another case, Customs staff posted at Khurkhera check post foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign origin tyres and seized the commodity worth Rs0.5 million.
