KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Friday issued notices to the customs for Jan 25 while hearing a constitution petition filed by Umar and Co, importer of steel coil sheets.
Ghulam ullah Sheikh and Haider Sheikh advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that the custom authorities blocked the consignment on ground that the imported material is of secondary quality. The petitioner filed an appeal before the Special Customs Appellate Tribunal which also ruled in favor of the petitioner/importer.
The custom officials despite orders of the tribunal are not releasing the consignment, the petitioner maintains praying to the court to direct custom officials to implement the order of the customs appellate tribunal and release the consignment forthwith.
The bench headed by Justice Munib Akhtar after hearing initial arguments put custom officials concerned on notice for Jan 25.
