KARACHI: Justice Junaid Ghaffar of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Monday ordered Pakistan Customs, Valuation to re-assess a consignment of Carbon Black imported by plaintiff Hanif Enterprises under section 25 of the Customs Act 1969.

The bench also ordered a Deputy Director, Valuation to appear in person before the court on January 18.

The bench earlier heard Ghulam ullah Sheikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates, counsel for the plaintiff who submitted that the respondent Deputy Director issued a guideline directing his sub-ordinates to assess the consignment of the plaintiff at a value of US $ 1 per kilogram. The counsel submitted that as per data and other source of information, the value of the disputed item  was at US $ 0.70 (cents) per kilogram. The order of the respondent is patently illegal he submitted at which the bench has already suspended the guideline.
