KARACHI: Justice Junaid Ghaffar of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Tuesday issued notices for Dec 02 to the Deputy Director, Valuation and other defendants in a suit filed by plaintiff / Importer.
The plaintiff filing a suit through Ghulam ullah Sheikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates challenged the issuance of guideline by Deputy Director, Valuation, Pakistan Customs.
The counsel submitted that only Director Valuation has the powers to issue a guideline under section 25 (a) of the Customs Act 1969 and the act of the Deputy Director was beyond jurisdiction, illegal and liable to be suspended.
The plaintiff also prays for the release of consignment of concrete steel nails on the basis of 90 days import data. The customs was valuing the item at a rate of US $ 97 cents per kilogram but under the impugned guide line raised the value to US $ 1.47 per kilogram.
