KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday ordered provisional release of a consignment of soap provisionally against secured payment of custom duty, taxes, fine and penalty.

The bench earlier heard Ghulamullah Shaikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates for petitioner Global Trade Links and two others in a constitution petition 6162/2016.

The counsel submitted copy of a order passed by another bench of SHC and sought provisional release of consignments. The bench held that order relied upon by the petitioners counsel is perfect as it secures interests of both the parties till the petition or matter is adjudicated upon by SHC finally.

Prima facie, Director General (Valuation) has no powers to enhance the value while hearing a revision appeal, the bench held while allowing release of the consignments on payment of custom duty, taxes etc on the basis of difference between the declared value and value  in Valuation Ruling.
