KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation is actively pursuing ‘Tanveer Plan’ and the development of database values and issuance of reference values of importable items have started yielding results.
Director General Customs Valuation Syed Tanveer Ahmed devised a plan to streamline values of importable values to check under-invoicing, which is not only causing revenue loss to the exchequer, but it also has deprived the local manufacturing of level playing field.
In order to expedite the process, Syed Tanveer Ahmed has advised the team developing the database values to prepare and issue reference values of around 2,000 items by December 2016. Additional Collector Imran Bukhari, Deputy Collector Rizwan Bashir and four appraising officers including Kiran Noor, Mohammad Khalid, Aijaz Butt and Naeem Butt are working quite efficiently on the plan and scores of valuation guidelines/reference values have already been notified for the reference of clearance collectorates.
Meanwhile, Directorate General of Customs Valuation has issued four more guidelines. During the scrutiny of previous clearance of data, it was observed that Wrapping Glaze Grease-proof Paper under PCT 4806.2000 are being assessed at different values and certain transactions are on very low side.
After carefully examining the clearance data and conducting market inquiries, the reference values or valuation guidelines are issued suggesting the values at $1.5/kg for Wrapping Glaze Grease proof paper of China and $1.65/kg of Europe origin.
During the scrutiny of previous clearance of data, it was observed that Glaze Tracing Paper in sheets/reels under PCT 4806.2000 are being assessed at different values and certain transactions are on very low side.
After carefully examining the clearance data and conducting market inquiries, the reference values or valuation guidelines are issued suggesting the values at $2.15/kg for Glaze Tracing Paper in sheets/reels of China and $2.4/kg of Europe origin.
During the scrutiny of previous clearance of data, it was observed that Paper cutting knife with lock slider and plastic handle under PCT 8208.9010 are being assessed at different values and certain transactions are on very low side.
After carefully examining the clearance data and conducting market inquiries, the reference values or valuation guidelines are issued suggesting the values at $.3.0/kg for Paper cutting knife with lock slider and plastic handle of China.
Moreover, reference values of Pascual yogurt and pudding under PCT 0403 and PCT 2106 have also been notified. After carefully examining the clearance data and conducting market inquiries, the reference values or valuation guidelines or reference values of Pascual non fat yogurt (various flavors) of all origin are $1.9/kg; reference values of Pascual low fat yogurt (various flavors) of all origin are $1.95/kg; reference values of Pascual thick creamy yogurt (various flavors) of all origin are $2.0/kg and reference values of Pascual pudding (various flavors) of all origin are $2.5/kg.
