KARACHI: MCC Appraisement West has lodged an FIR against M/s Faisal Trading, Karachi for attempting to evade duty and taxes through mis-declaration.
According to details of the case M/s Faisal Trading imported a consignment of baby diaper from China and sought clearance through WeBOC declaring the gross and net weight at 25 tons and 19 tons, respectively.
Meanwhile, credible information was received from Collector Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi to Deputy Collector R&D Rana Aftab that weight of consignment was declared less than the actual. The consignment was physical examined by Principal Appraiser Abdul Qayyum, Appraising officers Shahid Ibrahim Dasti and Javed Khalid. The net weight of the consignment was found to be 49.42 tons as against the declared net weight of 19 tons.
An FIR is lodged against Faisal Aftab of M/s Faisal Trading, as the importer in connivance with the shipper and other associates under-declared the weight of consignment to evade government’s legitimate revenue of Rs5.246 million. Investigations are under way.
