KARACHI: It is high time that politicians of Pakistan and the entire nation shun differences on construction of news dams in Pakistan as it is necessitated by the Indian Prime Minister’s threat of stopping flow of rivers from India into Pakistan making the entire food producing belt barren.
This was said by Sardar Abdul Qayyum Sabri, president Muttehda Qabail Federation and Mushawarti Council Pakistan here Tuesday while addressing a Jirga after Indian threats in the wake of Urri attack.
He said that if the nation had developed consensus over national projects like Kalabagh dam and other water storages it would have been able to gave a matching reply to India. It is high time that Pakistan plans for meeting its water and energy requirements on war footing.
He also termed the statement by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj regarding independent movement in Balochistan and said that it cannot be termed independence movement as it is not by local people but a handful of Indian or Afghan agents. The hired men cannot win freedom, he said adding that insurgency in Balochistan will be quelled by the Pakistani forces with the support of tribesmen and patriotic people of Balochistan.
He offered services of 5000 members of the federation and also asked the government to seek cooperation of local sardars to protect CPEC projects. He also asked the government to establish Madaris or nationalize the existing ones and making the learning of Quran and Hadith with translation compulsory for a better understanding of the religion ending religious strife.
He asked the Prime Minister to gave extension to Gen Raheel Sharif so that India feel pressure of his presence as Chief of Army Staff. Prime Minister’s popularity will grow if he decides in favour of extending tenure of COAS Gen Raheel Sharif.
