KARACHI: A divisional bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday allowed return of surety deposited with the Nazir of SHC against provisional release of consignments of rubber.
The bench earlier heard counsel for petitioner company Fargo Belting which deals in NBR (raw rubber). The counsel said that they have paid the differential amount to Customs department after their application for re-assessment was entertained and matter has been settled in respect of custom duty, sales tax and other levies.
Ilyas Ahsan, Principal, Appraiser Law submitted a report conceding that payment has been made by the petitioner and department has no objection if the surety against each of the consignment is released back to the petitioner.
The bench after this statement allowed the applications directing the Nazir of the court to release the money after proper identification of the applicant/depositor.
