KARACHI: Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui of High Court of Sindh hearing a plea by Pakistan Customs lawyers adjourned hearing of a suit filed by importers of raw cotton.
According to details, the plaintiffs raw cotton from USA and claimed benefit under SRO 1125 of 2016. Pakistan Customs (Appraisement) officials of MCC West, East and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim denied the benefit of the same to the petitioner who moved the court and on Aug 15 took an order from the court which restrained the custom officials from taking any coercive action against the plaintiff.
Today when the suit came up for hearing, lawyers for Pakistan Customs objected to the restraining order on ground that it was passed without hearing them. They also opposed the adjournment plea by the plaintiffs and requested the court to allow only a short adjournment. The bench allowed the request adjourning the hearing till Aug 25.
