KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has approached Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) requesting extension in the deadline for filing of monthly income tax withholding statements and sales tax returns.
In a letter to Chairman FBR, President KTBA Rehan Hasan Jafri requested extending the date of filing of monthly income tax withholding statement and the sales tax return for June 2016 till July 31, 2016 in order to facilitate taxpayers for proper compliance.
“Business activities in the country was closed due to the holiday for almost 10 working days i.e from July 02, 2016 to July 10, 2016, whereas the last date for filing the monthly income tax statement and monthly sales tax return are due on the July 15, and July 18, 2016,” Jafri noted.
President KTBA said the tax practitioners were left with quite a few working days to feed and put all the data entries in the monthly withholding statement and monthly sales tax return.
“FBR should facilitate the taxpayers who are working on behalf of FBR as withholding agents and contributing a huge amount into the exchequer without any compensation as their legal obligation,” Jafri noted.
