KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput on Friday adjourned hearing of a petition filed by Abbas Ahmed, importer of a consignment of wire cutting scrap from China.

Today when the petition came up for hearing,  the bench after hearing initial arguments of the counsel for petitioner asked the counsel for Pakistan Customs, Appraisement, West to submit a report that whether the disputed and undisputed part of the consignment could be distinguished from one another. The bench then adjourned further proceedings till July 04.

Zia-ul-Hasan advocate maintains in the petition submitted that it was an issue of classification as Custom officials have no objection to 40 tones of the consignment but are disputing the 12 tones being “serviceable item”. He prayed to the court to the court to appoint a commissioner or Nazir to inspect and carry out inspection with custom officials.
