KARACHI: The Directorate General of Reforms & Automation has advised M/s PRAL to update the network system so that execution of daily back-up of WeBOC / One-Customs business processes continue unhindered.

The available storage space on the array of seven (07) hard disks (70 GB each) installed with IBM i5Series has reached upto 92 percent plus. The situation is alarming and the system’s processing capacity would be compromised once this data storage level reaches 95 percent.

PRAL’s technical side has made negotiations with M/s. IBM for extension in disk space for which the vendor has sent their proposal / quotation regarding purchase of two (02) units (70 GB each) amounting to $5,208.

Reforms & Automation has therefore advised M/ s. PRAL to take necessary action so that execution of daily back-up of WeBOC / One-Customs business processes continue unhindered through the i5Series.

It may be mentioned here that the weBOC system is already facing serious troubles due to non-up-gradation of memory drivesa dn stops working time and again leaving the entire process of trade suspended.

Whenever WeBOC incurs problems importer & clearing agents can not open the GD in the WeBOC system while assessment staff cannot access scanned uploaded documents while payments received in banks cannot be opened and checked.

Now the One Customs is also at the verge of collapse. One Customs deals with SRO 327, SRO 450, Chapter 99, Section 22; data regarding excise verification of imported vehicles; ministry allotted quota regarding chemicals and similar goods. If the system stops working all the processes will be suspended inflicting loss to the national economy as well as the goodwill of the country.

Directorate General of Reforms & Automation is designing new modules in the WeBOC system, but the PRAL network team is not efficient enough to manage this load.
