KARACHI: The Customs staff posted at Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad has foiled an attempt to smuggle antiques and artifacts on Friday.

Customs staff seized a Consignment of 21 antiques including Buddha statues, vases, pots and other statues etc.

Out of these 21, the Director General Archeology and Museums Islamabad confirmed 10 items to be priceless and invaluable antiques as defined under section 2 (b) and (c) of the Antiquities act 1975, while remaining 11 have been identified as Artifacts.

The Collector Customs Islamabad Arsalan Subuctageen has praised the performance of Customs staff of Islamabad Airport on this outstanding performance.

Investigation and prosecution process has been initiated, while Department of Archeology has been contacted to ascertain the value of the seized goods.
